Not long ago the "air experts" told us that much of the pollution in the Central Valley was caused by almond farmers kicking up dust.

Valleys are just predisposed to all sorts of dynamics in natural disasters and variable elements including fire, volcanos, weather, quakes, drought, air currents and nutty people and the beagle population. :)
