Just like her mom... Semavi Vasi Bella

Semavi Vasi Bella ("Bella") is back with us for a while.
She was the girl who was biscotti puppy.
She gives us so many doubletakes!! Her head and expression and much of her personality is just like her mom.

Momma Zor, below:
Semavi Kadinsi Zor
Zor's muzzle is a little gray at this angle, but the similarities in head and expression just blow me away. :)

Here are the two of them. Mama Zor with little 'Spot', now known as Bella, straddling her paws.

Here is Bella again. Pretty girl!

Coco and Bella Aug 2008
And here are Bella with her sister Coco, our chocolate rough coat. Bella is just a little taller than Coco now.

You'd never have guessed Bella would 'catch up' so much if you saw this pic of Coco and Bella playing at 6 weeks of age.
6weeks Coco and Bella

Isn't that amazing?!

YouTube gets closed captioning support

Woo HOO!!!!!!!
YouTube gets closed captioning support

YAY!! OMG, yes!!

In a move to make videos easier to understand without volume or for the hard of hearing, YouTube has given users the option of embedding closed captions that show up as semitransparent overlays.
The news link above has a link to a Closed Caption (in English) Japanese clip. It looks pretty awesome so if you want to see an example, go there and look.

Here's what the controls on a real Closed Captioned video on YouTube looks like note the far RIGHT hand side:

There are volume control, the control to expand to full window, and finally the NEWest control! The Closed Caption control is on the far right hand side and expands on mouseover to gives you the option to hide or show REAL Closed captions!!

I did search on YouTube on the keywords "closed captioned" but just end up with all the usual clips that don't actually have captioning at all, or are at least, OPEN captioned, by having text inserted into the images in the clips (which I do appreciate!).

Above video is linked to See for their collection of found CC online videos - Chad Vader is pretty funny. :D

Well it is NEW, and I hope people using Youtube will take advantage of the CC tool.
For example: I hope some of the National Geographic clips will start to utilize them too! (you can lead a horse to water but... )

And on other news......
Comcast to cap monthly consumer broadband
... hrm

Surprisingly the company is not providing any tools to help users monitor their current usage. An FAQ on Comcast's support site simply suggests that customers do a "Web search" for bandwidth metering software that will track this amount for them. Going forward there may be plans to set up alerts over certain thresholds, or bundle some official tool as part of the company's starter software.

Very likely, a sign of the times.

AB 1634 is dying, and shelter programs will likely benefit

Helmut after a bath. What a head! He's still a baby tho.
He'll be two in October. Photo from Geno, who takes some of the most fun pics! :D

And YAY, major drumroll...

Today, Friday 22, 2008 we got the news that California Assembly Bill 1634 has been kicked to the curb. AB1634 was an extremist statewide, mandatory spay and neuter bill. Thank you so much Senator Cox for your support! Thank you to Senator Runner and others who realized the bill is not a solution nor an experiment that California can afford. Thank you to AKC for returning at the last minute into the flock. Major "Thank Yous" to all the people and groups who helped us fight this!
I can think of many names, such as Brat Zinmaster and Laura Sanborn whose persistent energy kept us focused but there are so many people and too many to list.

I would write more about it but I've ranted enough for now. I think the following link does a pretty good job explaining and describes the problems going on in Los Angeles. People who think that MSN can work really need to look at where some of the most enthusiastic MSN proponents live and work and get a reality check on what is really going on over there. Chicago, wake up.
Living with birddogs: AB 1634 is dying, and shelter programs will likely benefit. No time to go off guard tho. Anti-animal legislation continues to persist nation and even world wide.

And it's time, everyone. Time to buy your copies of the Anatolian Calendar which supports rescue. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to Anatolian Rescue. There are only limited numbers of copies, so be sure to get your order in NOW!

No on California AB 1634
"California Healthy Pets Act"
Choosing a 'feel good' perky name for a bill perpetuates the GRAND deception

My Harry Potter Alter Ego

Albus Dumbledore Where to take the quiz....

My results......

My Harry Potter Alter Ego

Gosh I think I took this quiz a month ago when I was trying to find an escape. Over time, I have come to love all the Harry Potter movies. I wish I had time to read the books. Crazily enough, I did not get to see the movies in order initially. I saw Prisoner of Azkaban first, about the time it came out on DVD, then I saw Goblet of Fire and then Order of the Phoenix in turn as they were released on DVD. Talk about confusing! Normally I read "the book" before seeing "the movie" but that just hasn't happened with the HP stories. It wasn't until I was starting to go stir crazy for more HP, that I realized I still needed to see the first two films which I absolutely loved and now it all makes more sense, LOL. My fave HP site this year is The Harry Potter Lexicon which has been awesome in filling out my understanding of the story considering the order in which I absorbed the story.

I plan on reading the books when I get a chance (but I have so many books I want to read already). I'm sort of hoping that my nephews will have the books eventually and I'll be able to read their books. :)

Anyway, I can hardly to see the Half-Blood Prince. It will happen when I can get it on DVD with closed captioning.

Ahh, Harry Potter, my favorite series to read and reread. Loved the books much more than the movies because they went into so much more detail. I tend to read books in a big "gulp" - then go back and sample them in a more leisurely manner. I'm current rereading the last book (Deathly Hallows) for the second time. BTW, my alter ego is Herminone Grainger. Loved that smart little twit.

Love the picture!

Italian friends!
Nino's son in Italy with a gorgeous Anatolian female pup, Hasir. Doesn't she have a bit of mischief in those eyes? ;)
I couldn't resist posting this! To see more of Nino's stuff, visit his blog!

Alas, this is happening way too much. I have truly been totally snowed, abducted by life and all that booooring yadda yadda... I'm trying to get back to my backlog of postings so I'll make a few tonight or this morning or whenever the *$&#^ server lets these upload. (sigh)
